Leo was born and raised in Chamonix, the home of European mountaineering and skiing, so the fact that he started skiing at three years old shouldn’t come as a surprise. The fact that just three years later, at the tender age of six, he was competing in ski racing is more surprising, and it was the first sign of what he was to become.
By 12, Leo had switched to backcountry riding, bringing speed from his racing background and combining it with newly acquired freestyle skills, in tune with the younger breed of freestyle riders today. When he turned 18, he decided to start competing in freeriding and placed second overall in the Freeride World Tour Junior event in 2012 season.
He continued to compete, moving from the juniors to the senior qualifiers, testing his skills at three- and four-star events across Europe. By the 2014/15 season he’d graduated onto the full senior tour, becoming the youngest athlete to ever participate in the tour. And then, boom, in 2017 he took first place overall. He then followed this up with seventh in 2018 and third in 2019.
At the same time, Leo also loves the freedom and creativity that come with filming. Always with a solid crew of fellow athletes and hungry explorers, Leo has travelled and filmed in Norway, Russia, Greenland, Japan, Alaska and most recently Pakistan. He wants to continue growing and exploring new places and his own skills in the mountains.
